Android Users Can Finally Use Alternate Search and Payment Methods… but Only in India

A photo of an Android figurine Android users in India are about to get a little more choice over their default search engine. Android users in India will soon have more control over their devices, thanks to a court ruling. Beginning next month, Indian Android wielders can choose a different billing system when paying for apps and in-app smartphone purchases than going through the default Play Store. Google will also allow Indian users to select a different search engine as their default right as they set up a new device, which might have implications for upcoming EU regulations. The move…

There’s a problem with the latest Google Android phone update, Minnesota AG says

Minnesota’s top prosecutor is urging Google to fix a software update on its cellphones that has led to device-users unintentionally dialing 911. The state has roughly 100 centers that handle 911 operations and most of them have been buried in accidental emergency calls this month, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison said Thursday. The issue is causing added stress to already understaffed 911 centers and Google should resolve it immediately, Ellison said in a letter to Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai .…

The Apple Watch already has a bevy of exercise options and can measure more health data points than I personally know what to do with. Yet it still lags behind competitors when it comes to delivering insights related to sleep and workout recovery. Fitness aside, I’d…

Now, the app has received its first update since launch, packing background playback features.
