TECNO has introduced the MEGAPAD 2, a budget-friendly Android tablet positioned as a versatile device for students and working professionals. The slate arrives with a full metal body, an 11-inch 90Hz display, and a suite of AI-powered productivity tools. Though pricing and global availability remain undisclosed.
The MEGAPAD 2 boasts a full metal construction, a departure from the common plastic or hybrid builds in its price range. Measuring 6.6mm thick and weighing 547 grams, it offers a comfortable one-handed or two-handed user experience during extended use.
The device features an 11-inch LCD panel with a 2.5K resolution, delivering sharper visuals than typical Full HD+ displays in this segment. The screen’s vivid color reproduction and narrow bezels enhance the viewing experience. However, the glossy finish may cause visibility issues in direct sunlight, despite its 550 nits of peak brightness.
Under the hood, the tablet is powered by a MediaTek MT8781 (Helio G99) processor. This chip handles everyday tasks smoothly, with fluid animations and responsive app switching. Yet, graphically demanding games may require low or medium graphics settings to maintain playable frame rates.

The MEGAPAD 2 runs HiOS 16, TECNO’s custom Android skin. The company emphasizes software optimization, suggesting that benchmark scores alone do not tell the full performance story. Storage options include 128GB or 256GB of internal space, expandable up to 2TB via microSD. Additionally, a nano SIM slot enables 4G LTE connectivity for outdoor use.
The tablet’s audio is powered by quad speakers tuned by DTS. This setup outperforms typical dual-stereo configurations found in budget tablets, offering sufficient volume to fill a room. Despite the lack of bass punch found in higher-end slates, the combination of display quality and speaker output makes the device suitable for streaming video content.
TECNO has equipped the MEGAPAD 2 with AI tools targeting students and professionals. For students, AI Problem Solving can process equations or full textbook pages captured via the 8MP rear camera. LearnUp provides a child-friendly interface with free learning resources, while the Learning Center offers thousands of K-12 lessons, stories, cartoons, and songs. Language learners gain access to AI Translation supporting over 160 languages with cloud connectivity and real-time captioning during video playback.
Professionals benefit from the 8MP front camera suited for video calls, along with AI SnapMemo and MindHub tools that capture, analyze, and summarize content. A dedicated OneTap button summons these AI functions quickly, with the option to reassign app shortcuts through settings if preferred.

Creative users can pair the MEGAPAD 2 with the separately sold MEGA Pencil stylus. The AI Drawing Board feature attempts to refine sketched ideas into more polished concepts.
TECNO bundles a Bluetooth keyboard with the tablet, doubling as a protective case and featuring a kickstand. However, the shallow stand area may cause the display to fall when adjusted. The keyboard connects via Bluetooth and requires a separate USB-C charge. WPS Office comes pre-installed for document and spreadsheet work, and the device supports split-screen multitasking for running two apps side by side.
The OneLeap Ecosystem allows file transfers between TECNO devices and supports a triple-screen workflow when paired with a compatible smartphone and laptop or desktop PC.
The MEGAPAD 2 houses an 8,200mAh battery. Real-world usage varies significantly, with streaming video at approximately 70% brightness from morning until evening draining the battery. Standby consumption remains minimal, potentially lasting two to three days without charging. The tablet includes an 18W charging brick and cable, but full recharges take over 100 minutes, a notably slow rate for the category.
